Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin is seeking to make good on his promise to advance racial justice in New Jersey with an agreement reached with a school over allegations of race discrimination and a new speaker series featuring prominent national leaders in the racial justice movement.

The Racial Justice Initiative was launched in 2021 across the Department of Law and Public Safety, and directed each of its agencies to identify specific projects to advance racial justice in the state that could be completed using existing state and regulatory authorities, according to a press release. Since then, Platkin has expanded those efforts to include a number of significant policy changes as well as the creation of new offices, divisions and programs designed to serve historically underserved communities.
