The Office of Attorney Ethics’ 2022 annual report revealed only a small increase in the number of investigations and formal charges, but a 35% increase in random audits conducted in what the report called “a year of transformation and transition.”

A letter addressed to Chief Justice Stuart Rabner and the associate justices of the state’s high court, which accompanied the report, and written by Johanna Barba Jones, director of the OAE, stated that the year brought change to the office, including 18 new staff members. More than 50% of the managers in the office, including Barba Jones, had served in their role for less than a year at the close of 2022.
