An Atlantic County jury returned a $3.5 million verdict on Oct. 5 in Robinson v. Stengel, a case involving a woman who suffered severe fractures of both legs in a head-on crash.

According to the suit, Richard Stengel was waiting at a red light at the intersection of Route 54 and Jackson Avenue in Buena Vista Township on Dec. 29, 2019, when his vehicle drifted into the intersection. Stengel's vehicle belonged to his employer, My Tree Boyz, a landscaping company. A van belonging to Dish Network and driven by Russell Kline, traveling through the intersection on Route 54, clipped Stengel's vehicle, causing the Dish Network vehicle to be diverted into oncoming traffic. The Dish Network van then collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Jasmine Robinson, according to court documents.

Robinson asserted that the Dish Network van had a yellow light as it entered the intersection, but instead of stopping, as was his duty, Kline sped up to get through the light and was speeding at the point of impact, according to her lawyer, Richard Albuquerque.
