Goldberg Segalla added associates Valerie Mayzelshteyn and Piotr (Peter) Popkowski to the firm’s workers’ compensation group. Mayzelshteyn will be based in Princeton, while Popkowski joins the firm’s Newark office. Mayzelshteyn was previously with Irene Shor in Red Bank, and Popkowski was previously with Fredson Statmore Bitterman in Bloomfield.

Mayzelshteyn focuses her practice on workers’ compensation defense. She represents insurers, employers, and third-party administrators in all aspects of workers’ compensation claims from inception through resolution, including depositions, settlement negotiations, mediations, and preparation of petitions and motions, the announcement said. Mayzelshteyn draws on a background in employment litigation, where she handled matters involving discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and whistleblower claims.
