With New Jersey becoming more actively involved in litigation against major players across various industries over the past few years, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin has announced the establishment of a new antitrust section within the Division of Law aimed at better protecting consumers in the marketplace.

Platkin said his office created the Antitrust Litigation and Competition Enforcement Section to safeguard the interests of New Jersey residents and foster a fair and competitive marketplace. In 2022, Gov. Phil Murphy signed S-901 into law, which amended the state’s antitrust statute and allows the attorney general to pursue bad actors and obtain restitution at all levels of the supply chain, according to a statement from Platkin’s office.
