Calcagni & Kanefsky has announced the expansion of its white collar defense & investigations and business litigation practices with three new litigators: partner Shawn P. Barnes, counsel Theodore J. Hawkins and associate Nicholas Wind.

A former assistant U.S. attorney and chief at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, Barnes served as chief of the OCDETF/Narcotics Unit, overseeing nearly 300 federal investigations and prosecutions involving financial crimes, tax fraud, money laundering, mail and wire fraud, and drug distribution, the announcement said. In his leadership role, Barnes routinely partnered with the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Securities Exchange Commission, and Internal Revenue Service, among other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Barnes also served in the Economic Crimes Unit, where he represented the United States in cases involving securities fraud, insider trading, stock manipulation, and corporate disclosure issues.
