A $3.7 million settlement was reached in June, before trial, for a man who sustained severe spinal injuries in a construction site fall.

Carlos Quintanilla-Martinez, a Trenton resident, sustained severe spinal injuries when he fell nearly three stories while working at a construction site in Matawan. According to his attorneys, Edward McElroy and Daniel N. Epstein of Epstein Ostrove in Edison, the lawsuit claimed that the contractors allowed using an unsafe box constructed on the job site to hoist materials to higher floors. That box dislodged and fell to the ground with Quintanilla-Martinez inside.
