In a unanimous decision Thursday, the New Jersey Supreme Court held that an affidavit of merit does not need to specify that the affiant reviewed medical records attesting to the merits of a claim, and stressed the importance of a Ferreira conference in professional negligence actions.

In the medical malpractice action Moschella v. Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Candace A. Moschella brought her claim under the Wrongful Death Act in Monmouth County Superior Court as the administratrix of the estate of her daughter, Alexandrianna Lowe, who died on July 22, 2018, at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
