The U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey has granted a plaintiff's motion for sanctions, finding that the defense "repeatedly sought to obstruct the judicial process" by refusing to produce discovery.

The ruling arose in what U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy Waldor said should have been a "straightforward breach of contract action," but ended up with a long-running discovery dispute that involved allegations of deleted emails, improper attempts to contact an expert witness and failing to produce an expert for deposition.
