Pashman Stein Welcomes Judge Thurber as Special Counsel

Pashman Stein Walder Hayden has announced that retired Superior Court Judge Mary Thurber has joined as special counsel in the firm's alternative dispute resolution practice.

Michael S. Stein, firm chair and managing partner, said in a statement, "I have known Judge Thurber for more than 30 years, spanning my entire professional career, and I am thrilled to welcome her to the firm. I have witnessed first-hand her outstanding legal skills and acumen both on and off the bench as a litigator in private practice and as a judge. Her insight and experience, particularly with resolving significantly complex business disputes, will be valuable to litigants and to our colleagues here at the firm."

Prior to joining Pashman Stein, Thurber served as a judge in the Superior Court of New Jersey for 15 years, preceded by close to 25 years in private practice. Appointed to the bench in 2009, she served in the Family Part, first in Hudson County and then in Bergen County, until March 2015 when she began her assignment in the Law Division, Civil Part, in Bergen County. During her tenure in the Law Division, she served as the designated judge for complex business litigation (commercial and construction), environmental, and False Claims Act matters and as the designated back-up/conflict judge for multicounty litigation matters. She also managed and tried (or settled) both probate and general equity cases from the Chancery Division. She served on the Supreme Court Committee on the Rules of Evidence for six years.
