Rutgers University announced that it is once again turning to Lowenstein Sandler partner Matthew Boxer to lead an investigation, this time into claims that a toxic environment exists in its women’s gymnastics program.

Boxer, a former New Jersey state comptroller and a former federal prosecutor, will head the investigation into allegations by current and former members of the women’s gymnastics team, first surfaced by a NJ Advance Media investigation. For the firm’s work on the investigation, Lowenstein Sandler will be paid a $50,000 retainer, $225,000 for the first month and $195,000 for the second month, according to a statement issued by Rutgers. The statement also noted that fees will be revisited if more time is needed to complete the review.
