A New Jersey man who was wrongly imprisoned for 10 days after he was erroneously identified by a facial recognition program has agreed to a $300,000 settlement of his suit in federal court.

Plaintiff Nijeer Parks was arrested in 2019 when a facial recognition program said he was the man police in Woodbridge, New Jersey, were seeking on charges of theft and assault on an officer. But he was released and the charges dropped for lack of evidence after he spent 10 days in jail.
