After a 7-day trial, an Essex County jury awarded a Newark man more than $1 million for injuries he sustained when a trench on a construction project collapsed, causing him to fall into it.
The plaintiff, Pablo DeSouza, filed his lawsuit over injuries sustained while he was working on a North Brunswick construction site. The jury reached a $1.5 million verdict in favor of DeSouza on September 11 before Judge Thomas R. Vena, who molded it into a $1,688,844.00 verdict.
