The New Jersey attorney general is going after Virtua Health for an allegedly discriminatory policy of drug testing pregnant patients without their consent.

New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and New Jersey Division on Civil Rights Director Sundeep Iyer filed suit against Virtua in Camden County Superior Court on Sept. 27. They allege that the hospital discriminated against pregnant patients and violated the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination by employing a drug testing policy that violated patient privacy rights. The case, Platkin v. Virtua Health, stemmed from complaints filed with the DCR by several pregnant women who gave birth at Virtua Voorhees.
