As wage transparency legislation continues to trend across the country, legal experts have unanswered questions about the New Jersey version of the law.

The state recently joined the growing list of jurisdictions with wage transparency laws. Senate Bill 2310, signed into law in November by Gov. Phil Murphy, is part of a broader national trend toward preventing wage discrimination and prohibiting employers from paying employees differently for substantially similar work. The New Jersey version of the law now expands the 2018 Diane B. Allen Equal Pay Act to include access to salary information in job listings.
