A Flemington woman who sustained a traumatic brain injury in a car crash with a Montgomery Township police officer has agreed to a $1.6 million settlement resolving her lawsuit.
The case, Sante v. Township of Montgomery, was filed in Somerset County. The plaintiff, Janine Sante, initially accepted $250,000 from the insurance carrier for her daughter, who was driving the vehicle during the crash. Settlement for the claims against Montgomery Township were agreed to before retired Magistrate Judge Douglas E. Arpert of Walsh Pizzi O’Reilly Falanga in Newark in October with the township agreeing to provide the remaining $1.35 million. The township formally agreed to the accord two months later on Dec. 5.
