To preserve the independence and integrity of the state’s Judiciary, members of the bench and candidates for judicial posts should be insulated from politics, the New Jersey State Bar Association’s governing body said in a resolution last week.
The resolution, adopted at the board of trustee’s meeting Wednesday at the Annual Meeting and Convention in Atlantic City, also specifically supports Supreme Court Justice Barry T. Albin. The measure calls on government officials to evaluate candidates on their aptitude and intellectual prowess, not on the popularity of their opinions.
