A Bergen County jury awarded $2.387 million on May 14 in a medical malpractice suit over the death of a 14-year-old boy from internal bleeding.

Matthew Calbi was brought to Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood with swelling and pain but no external injuries on Aug. 17, 2003, after being kicked in the neck by his mother, Linda, says Lewis Stein, who represents Calbi’s father, Christopher, of Teaneck.
