STATE COURT CASES

ADMINISTRATIVE LAW — PUBLIC ADJUSTER LICENSE

01-2-4758 Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance v. Budge , App. Div. (per curiam) (21 pp.) Steven Budge, pro se, appeals a final agency decision of the commissioner of the Department of Banking and Insurance revoking his license as a public adjuster and imposing fines and penalties. The commissioner’s action stemmed from allegations that Budge violated the New Jersey Insurance Fraud Protection Act in connection with insurance claims for damage to a home owned by Budge’s aunt and uncle and submitted to their homeowners’ carrier, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. The appellate panel affirms the commissioner’s decision, finding nothing irregular or improper about the department’s decision to pursue administrative sanctions against Budge after learning of the facts and circumstances uncovered by Liberty Mutual. [Decided July 29, 2009.]
