Ten New Jersey law firms took part in the 23rd annual “Battle of the Barristers” softball tournament on July 14, a fundraiser for the Fresh Air Fund. The event was co-sponsored by Cole, Schotz, Meisel, Forman & Leonard of Hackensack. The games were held at Brookdale Park in Upper Montclair/Bloomfield, with the championship game played at Yogi Berra Stadium at Montclair State University. APALA Installs New Officers

The Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey held its annual dinner and installed its new officers on June 25 at the Sunny Palace restaurant in East Brunswick. Attendees included: President David Kwon of K&L Gates in Newark; President-elect Aney Chandy of Toys “R” Us; Monmouth County Superior Court Judge David Bauman, an APALA member who presided over the installation; Vice President Willard Shih of Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer; Treasurer Sapana Shah of the Lynch Law Firm; and Secretary P. Stephen Kim of Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold. The association also gave its 11th annual APALA-NJ Achievement Award to Tommy Shi of Mercedes-Benz USA, also the dinner’s keynote speaker, and its Professional Achievement Award to Phil Cha of Archer & Greiner and Shaji Eapen of Morgan Melhuish Abrutyn.
