Who’s That Gal With Mike? — No one was surprised when Michael Critchley, a high-profile criminal defense lawyer in New Jersey for decades, accepted a call to expand his A-list of clients to include Ridgefield Mayor Anthony Suarez, one of the 44 politicos and rabbis arrested on July 24 in a bribery and money-laundering sting that drew national attention.

The A-list got longer last week. On Thursday, Critchley was in federal court in Raleigh, N.C., representing former presidential candidate John Edwards’ ex-girlfriend, Rielle Hunter. Critchley says she was in the courthouse for nine hours and testified before a grand jury investigating whether funds were used improperly by the Edwards presidential campaign. Hunter had contacts with the campaign as a freelance videographer.
