A state appeals court’s broad interpretation of the N.J. Charitable Immunity Act may make it impossible to hold colleges liable for failure to enforce alcohol bans on campus.

The Appellate Division on Tuesday overturned a $260,000 jury award to the family of 21-year-old Keith Orzech, a Fairleigh Dickinson University student who fell to his death from a dormitory window after a night of heavy drinking in 2005.
