A carpenter whose right leg had to be amputated after a construction accident accepted $2.625 million Tuesday in his Morris County suit, Limper v. Skanska USA Building .

On April 22, 2006, during construction of a Crate and Barrel store at the Bridgewater Commons mall, Christopher Limper, now 34, fell five feet into a hole in the floor that he allegedly did not see. He claimed general contractor Skanska USA Building of Parsippany had removed wooden barriers from around the hole and ordered it covered up with a pair of escalators, mounted on dollies while they awaited installation. On the day he fell, workers from Limper’s employer, Sloan Co., had rolled away the escalators to provide access to the area.
