The New Jersey Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld, in a trio of cases, the power of municipalities to visit harsh consequences on property owners who give false information or none when tax assessors come knocking.

In one case the Court said towns face no deadlines when they seek to dismiss challenges to assessments based on false or fraudulent information by the taxpayer. In two others, the Court said challenges can be dismissed if the taxpayers fail to provide income and expense information to the assessor within 45 days of the request.
