Warren Wilentz, a Middlesex County lawyer and Democratic leader who guided his family’s influential and politically connected law firm for two decades, died Thursday. He was 85.

He was chairman of the board of his firm, Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer in Woodbridge, from 1989 until death, undaunted by a 2002 car accident that left him a quadriplegic.
