A man whose manslaughter conviction was thrown out because exculpatory testimony was covered up by the prosecution is preparing to sue the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the assistant allegedly responsible.
Perman Pitman was released from Bayside State Prison on Feb. 26 at the request of the prosecutor’s office, which told the court that, aside from a key witness’s testimony, there was “never any other evidence, physical nor testimonial, directly implicating defendant” in the Sept. 27, 2005, killing of Robert Mays.
