Gerald Council, Mercer County’s presiding criminal judge, was admonished by the Supreme Court Monday for ordering release from custody for a defendant who was his blood relative.

The Court adopted the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct’s finding, in a March 31 presentment, that Council should have recused from the case, even though there were extenuating circumstances impelling him to stay in.
