A federal judge on Tuesday dismissed a suit by former state judge Patricia Talbert, who alleged that discrimination and retaliation against her by her superiors resulted in her failure to be renominated after her initial seven-year term.

Talbert, the first and only Asian female Superior Court judge, claimed that her assignment to the Essex County Family Part was due to racial and gender discrimination and in retaliation for having complained about judicial rotation policy. She further alleged that her assignment caused her to be given unfavorable evaluations by attorneys, which led to her failure to be reappointed for tenure.
