A federal jury in Trenton awarded $5 million on April 26 to a man who claimed that state police used excessive force during a traffic stop that was captured on videotape.
On Aug. 17, 2004, Gary Wade, a Tinton Falls police officer in an unmarked police car, was pulled over for speeding and erratic driving on the Garden State Parkway, according to the suit, Wade v. Colaner.
