A Cherry Hill mortgage-modification company and its owners have agreed to pay the state $5 million to settle charges they defrauded homeowners facing foreclosure.

The settlement, memorialized in a consent judgment signed by Camden County Superior Court Judge Mary Eva Colalillo on June 28, is binding on the company, Hope Now Modifications LLC, and its principals, Salvatore Puglia Sr. and Nicholas Puglia Jr.
