Court rule changes taking effect next month will tighten deadlines for amici filings, make citing unpublished cases easier and give trial judges a greater voice in deciding whether interlocutory appeals should be allowed.

The amendments, published last week, also bring more categories of attorneys within the aegis of the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection, and add to their annual fee assessments.
