Nothing Personal — On Tuesday, Appellate Division Judges Mary Catherine Cuff, Christine Miniman and Douglas Fasciale found themselves in the odd position of ruling against a superior.

They affirmed a State Health Benefits Commission decision in an insurance dispute with Supreme Court Justice Jaynee LaVecchia. The judges refused to overturn a decision denying coverage of a $22,080 back operation for LaVecchia’s husband, Michael Cole of DeCotiis, FitzPatrick & Cole in Teaneck, who is covered by her policy.
