The Mercer County Bar Association honored retired Mercer County Superior Court Judge Neil Shuster as its Professional Lawyer of the Year on Sept. 22. The award recognizes attorneys who are considered role models for their character, ability and respect garnered from other attorneys. Shuster began his legal career as an assistant Mercer County prosecutor in 1972. He entered private practice in 1975, returned to the prosecutor’s office as first assistant in 1986 and was appointed to the Superior Court in 1988, where he eventually served as presiding civil and chancery judge. Shuster, who retired in 2008, has a mediation practice with Dennigan Cahill in Princeton.

Shuster, right, is presented with an award for his contributions to the legal profession from Mercer County Bar President Michael Paglione.
