A group home for the disabled that provides residents with vocational and life-skills training is within the scope of the Charitable Immunity Act, even for injuries that occur off-premises, a state appeals court held on Monday.

The court reversed a trial judge who found there were material fact issues raised in a suit by parents of a disabled resident who choked to death while in the care of an employee of the Bancroft Neurohealth Inc. home in Cherry Hill.
