Mortgage lenders allegedly engaged in widespread “robo-signing” of residential mortgage foreclosure documents are scrambling to comply with a court order to demonstrate that their procedures are sound.
Answering an order to show cause why all uncontested foreclosure matters should not be suspended, six banks filed papers on Jan. 5, pointing to revised procedures they had adopted and arguing that suspension would be to the public’s detriment.
