The Supreme Court has once again named a special master to study whether New Jersey is meeting its constitutional obligation to “provide for the maintenance and support of a thorough and efficient system of free public schools.”

Bergen County Assignment Judge Peter Doyne, who two years ago determined the 2008 School Funding Reform Act was constitutional, was charged Thursday with finding out whether current funding levels pass muster with the Court’s Abbott v. Burke doctrine. He must report to the Court by March 31. [See text of Court's order.]
