The state Supreme Court has dismissed an ethics complaint against a Union County judge who made an off-color remark in the presence of a Jewish lawyer about a 1930s American pro-Nazi organization.

The Court on Monday adopted the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct’s findings — in a report not made public — that Superior Court Judge William Wertheimer “in no way maligned or intended to malign any religion, nor did [his remark] demonstrate any form of anti-Semitism or religious bias.” [Text of order (PDF)]
