Racial Divide — Former Municipal Court Judge Wilson Campbell claims he was unfairly disciplined and pressured to resign over his undisclosed affair with a white bailiff assigned to his Jersey City courtroom, and that it was racially discriminatory.
The state Supreme Court reprimanded Campbell on Jan. 28 for failing to tell superiors about the relationship as required by court rules. Three days later, Campbell filed a pro se suit in federal court in Newark, Cambpell v. Supreme Court of New Jersey et al. , 11-cv-005555, bringing counts under 42 U.S.C. 1981 and the state Law Against Discrimination.
