Bruce Menth was fired from his maintenance job at an apartment complex in January 2003 after notifying The Trentonian newspaper of his discovery of 19 dead birds at the Heartland Ostrich Farm in Hamilton Township. He claimed they were denied food and water and that farm and complex owner Sherwin Drobner ignored his pleas for remediation.
