In 2010, New York’s 1st Department recorded the admission of 3,069 new attorneys to the practice of law. Admission to the bar represents achievement of a significant goal.

Unfortunately, after the ceremony and celebration, many of the recently admitted attorneys return home to continue to search for a job, having been admitted without permanent employment. This is because the economy underwent a dramatic downturn in the latter half of 2008, while these individuals were still in school.
