The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday approved of the nomination of Republican Anne Patterson, of Morristown’s Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti, to be a justice of the state Supreme Court.

The committee, after a collegial hearing that lasted about 2 ½ hours, passed the nomination by a vote of 11 to 1, with Sen. Raymond Lesniak, D-Union, casting the sole negative vote. Lesniak had promised to vote against the confirmation, citing the fact that the nomination would leave the Court with no minority members.
