Prospects for women and minorities at large New Jersey law firms showed little or no improvement this year, judged by employment figures reported to the National Association for Law Placement and to the Law Journal.

A look at 20 firms studied this year and 20 comparable firms in 2010 shows progress virtually stagnant. Partnerships held by minorities inched up half a percent while nonpartner minority attorney ranks stayed flat. And women lawyers suffered setbacks, losing about a quarter of a percent in partnerships and 2 percentage points in nonpartner legal positions.
