In the past, I have published op-ed comments in the New Jersey Law Journal pointing out the decided left-leaning bias of its Editorial Board (which should, presumably, be a cross-section of New Jersey lawyers). After reading the Oct. 17, editorial page, all I can say is: “There you go again.”
This time, in an editorial entitled “The Awaki Memo,” in connection with the CIA’s drone bomb killing of U.S. citizen, Anwar al-Awaki, in Yemen, the Editorial Board praised the Obama Administration’s use of a 2010 legal memorandum from the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel that “analyzed when the government is justified in killing a citizen without a trial.” Noting that the Awaki Memorandum establishes that “[k]illing without trial is permitted if the terrorist poses a significant threat,” the editorial concluded:
