With money provided by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Lorenzo Gonzalez operated an after-hours club called “Kings Court” that was intended to attract certain “high-level” gang members. On Dec. 13, 2005, defendant arrived at Kings Court with Hamid Shabazz, Reginald Barris and Maurice Fabor. Others were present, including Michael Almonte, Ralph Hernandez, Jesus Gonzalez, John Melendez and Tara Woods. During the course of a robbery, defendant shot Jesus Gonzalez, Woods, Melendez and Hernandez. Emergency personnel confirmed that all four victims were dead. On Dec. 16, 2005, criminal complaints were filed against defendant, Barris and Shabazz. Defendant turned himself in and was arrested.
