A Sewell woman who suffered nerve damage from an epidural needle during childbirth was awarded $7.3 million on Dec. 22 by a Gloucester County jury in Birchfield v. Vanguard Anesthesia.
The needle struck a nerve root in Kristin Birchfield’s lumbar spine during the procedure on June 16, 2002, at Kennedy University Hospital in Washington Township.
