ess than three weeks after becoming attorney general, Jeffrey Chiesa has brought on board a new Division of Law director. On Tuesday, Chiesa appointed Christopher Porrino of Lowenstein Sandler in Roseland, who will take over by the end of February. He will replace Robert Hanna, who is nominated to head the state Board of Public Utilities.
The appointment came a day after Chiesa announced a reorganization and expansion of the Division of Consumer Affairs Enforcement Bureau that polices misuse of prescription drugs. Nine investigators are being added, for a total of 52, and two units are being created, the Drug Diversion and Pharmacy Inspection sections. Their staffs had been spread across the division and focused on prescription drug abuse as well as unrelated areas.
