God on Trial — This Wednesday, a few prominent New Jersey lawyers will apply their acumen to, and a federal magistrate judge will decide, a question usually considered nonjusticiable.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Paterson set that date for the mock trial of John Paul Holley v. Faith Knot, in which the disposition of a $100 million estate turns on God’s existence vel non. The two heirs agree to donate 100 percent to religious causes if a higher being exists, or to split it 50-50 between them if not.
