Dear Editor:

The undersigned, all experienced Essex County family law practitioners, write in response to your coverage of the recent Appellate Division decision in Ducey v. Ducey ["Appeals Court Rails Against Practice of Deferring Fact-finding-Based Decisions," Feb. 13]. This case is emblematic of the way things have become in Essex County’s Family Part over the past few years, and can be traced directly to the lack of judicial resources. The problem just got worse last December, when all trials of divorce actions were suspended, again due to lack of judges.
