A Republican governor plus a Democratic-controlled Legislature equals conflict in Trenton, and in 2011 that translated to a hefty revenue hike for lobbyists — including law firms with government-affairs practices.

New Jersey’s top 10 lobbying law firms grossed $11.9 million, a 13.9 percent increase over 2010′s revenues of $10.4 million, according to statistics released Wednesday by the N.J. Election Law Enforcement Commission. [See chart.]
