The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday rejected First Assistant Attorney General Phillip Kwon’s nomination to the Supreme Court after grilling him for more than six hours about his personal and family finances.
The 7-6 vote was one short of the minimum required to send the nomination to the full Senate. Only one Democrat, Sen. Brian Stack of Hudson County, broke ranks with his party and voted for Kwon.
